When my son was a toddler there wasn't a day that I didn't feel his tugs on my sleeve, demanding the same things over and over. If you're a mom, you know how kids’ persistence works. They don’t ask once and walk away. They keep asking because they believe you can give them what they’re asking for. That kind of persistence gets your attention.

In the same way, there’s a deep work God does in us when we bring the same request before Him again and again. It's not that we need to remind Him—after all He is omniscient and knows what we need before we ask (Matthew 6:8), but because it changes us.

Repeated prayer builds trust, shapes our faith, and keeps us anchored in hope, even when we're seeking results but don’t see them right away.

Jesus taught this very principle in Luke 18 when He told the parable of the persistent widow. She came to the judge repeatedly, asking for justice, and in the end, her persistence paid off.

Jesus used this story to encourage His followers to “always pray and not give up.” The point wasn’t to wear God down until He finally answers, but to show that consistent prayer reflects unwavering faith in His character and timing.

When you keep praying for the same thing, you’re declaring that you believe He is listening, that He is able, and that He is already at work. You have conditioned yourself to ask without doubting, to seek His Kingdom first, and to believe that all things work together for the good of them who love God and are called according to His purpose.

You believe this, even if the evidence hasn’t yet shown up in your circumstances.

Choose one thing to focus your prayers on and commit to it daily. Each time you pray, thank God for working on it and believe it will come to pass. This might seem like a simple act, but it will keep your mind and spirit aligned with faith instead of drifting into doubt.

Persistent prayer is a powerful way to live out your trust in God. When you bring that request before Him and patiently wait for an answer, you’re growing in faith, learning endurance, and deepening your relationship with Him.

Approach God again with your prayer and keep your faith steady. He hears you and is not only working on your request, but He's also working on you.
